What is Mobile Broadband?
Mobile broadband works by connecting your computer to the internet through a small device called a mobile broadband card, connect card, or AirCard. This "card" plugs into a card slot or usb port. It makes contact with a cell tower and uses 3G technology to connect to the internet.
Mobile broadband is basically like giving your computer a little 3G cell phone which it can use to connect to the internet at high speeds.
The large wireless companies such as AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc. provide mobile broadband and will supply the broadband card for free if the customer is willing to sign up for a service plan. Currently, mobile broadband data plans cost about $60 per month.
